What do I do with my uncut Phalaenopsis?

I received a phalaenopsis last Mother's day. I didn't cut it back after it was done blooming. Now, I have three different places on the 18 inch spike that are branching. Each branch has a few leaves. The plant looks healthy... should I let it bloom and then cut it back this summer? What kind of fertilizer should I use?
