Why did he say no about hanging out with me and wants me ?

I asked him if he wants to go to some concert, he wanted to originally go, when i asked him if he wants, he said he's not sure if his frnds are going (he dsnt want to go alone with me). So he gave an indirect no. I sent him yesterday a Val. day msg, he appeared on IM today being sooo sweet and asked, actually tried forcing me to buy a ticket for this concert he wants to go, which is a 2 hr drive away. Why is he doing this?
